2011 Norway attacks (7-22-1011)
The 2011 Norway attacks were two sequential terrorist attacks against the government, the civilian population and a Workers’ Youth League (AUF)-run summer camp in Norway on 22 July 2011.
The first was a car bomb explosion in Oslo within Regjeringskvartalet, the executive government quarter of Norway, at 15:25:22 (CEST). The bomb was made from a mixture of fertiliser and fuel oil and placed in the back of a car. The car was placed in front of the office of Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and other government buildings. The explosion killed eight people and injured at least 209 people, twelve of them seriously.
The second attack occurred less than two hours later at a summer camp on the island of Utøya in Tyrifjorden, Buskerud. The camp was organized by the AUF, the youth division of the ruling Norwegian Labour Party (AP). A gunman dressed in a homemade police uniform and showing false identification gained access to the island and subsequently opened fire at the participants, killing 69 of them, and injuring at least 110, 55 of them seriously; the 69th victim died in a hospital two days after the massacre. Among the dead were personal friends of Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and the stepbrother of Norway’s crown princess Mette-Marit.
It was the deadliest attack in Norway since World War II, and on average 1 in 4 Norwegians knew a victim affected by the attacks. The European Union, NATO and several countries around the world expressed their support for Norway and condemned the attacks.
The Norwegian Police arrested Anders Behring Breivik, a then 32-year-old Norwegian right-wing extremist, on Utøya island and charged him with both attacks. The main court trial began on 16 April 2012, and as at all his remand hearings Breivik admitted to having carried out the actions he was accused of, but denied criminal guilt and claimed the defence of necessity (jus necessitatis)

Lets take a look.
Who is the character Anders Behring Breivik?
Anders Behring Breivik
Anders Behring Breivik (Norwegian pronunciation: [‘andəʂ ‘beːɾiŋ ‘bɾæɪʋiːk]; born 13 February 1979) is a Norwegian accused mass murderer, terrorist and the confessed perpetrator of the 2011 attacks in Norway. On 22 July 2011, Breivik bombed the government buildings in Oslo, which resulted in eight deaths. He then carried out a mass shooting at a camp of the Workers’ Youth League (AUF) of the Labour Party on the island of Utøya where he killed 69 people, mostly teenagers.
Two pairs of court-appointed psychiatrists have examined Breivik prior to his 2012 trial. In the first report Breivik was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. A second evaluation was commissioned following widespread criticism of the first report. One week before the start of his trial the second psychiatric evaluation was published with the conclusion that Breivik was not psychotic during the attacks and he was not psychotic during their evaluation; rather he is an extreme narcissist. The trial of Anders Behring Breivik began on 16 April 2012 and closing arguments were held June 22. The main issue to be decided in the trial is whether he can be given a prison sentence or, if the court finds him legally insane, he will be involuntarily sectioned to a psychiatric facility, possibly indefinitely. Contrary to popular belief, Norway’s forensic psychiatric process means a psychiatric diagnosis could for Breivik mean more – rather than less – time in prison, even if he were successfully treated.
Breivik’s far-right militant ideology is described in a compendium of texts, titled 2083 – A European Declaration of Independence and distributed electronically by Breivik on the day of the attacks. In it he lays out his worldview, which includes support for ultranationalism, right-wing populism, Islamophobia, Zionism, anti-feminism, and White nationalism. It also expresses support for paramilitaries such as the Scorpions. It regards Islam and Marxism as the enemy, and argues for the violent annihilation of “Eurabia” and multiculturalism, and the deportation of all Muslims from Europe. Breivik wrote that his main motive for the atrocities was to market this manifesto
What does the news media say?

“””Norway attacks: profile of suspect Anders Behring Breivik:
Anders Behring Breivik, the main suspect in the Norwegian bomb attacks and shootings, has been described by police as a Christian fundamentalist with right-wing views.
The blond-haired 32-year-old appears to have set up accounts on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter just a few days ago.
Although police have not officially named Breivik as the suspect, Norwegian media identified him as the gunman. Police say the suspect is talking to police and was keen to “explain himself”.
Eyewitness reports from the island of Utoya, where the shootings took place, have also described a tall, blond haired, blue-eyed Norwegian man dressed as a police officer.
On the Facebook page attributed to him, Mr Breivik describes himself as a Christian and a conservative. It listed his interests as hunting, body building and freemasonry. His profile also listed him as single. The page has since been taken down.”””
